Mathkhai Mahostav is a multilingual national level theatre festival organised by Bhumika Paribar Balangir. The basic aim of this function is to bring social and cultural harmony through theatre in the local region and the nation. To protect and revive the theatre which is the reflection of socio-cultural status of a nation. It also aims to bring transformation into the social, cultural and political system of the region. To up bring the human value through theatre. Bhumika Parivar has a strong belief and commitment to accomplish its goal.
History of Mathkhai Natak Mahotsav
A new era in the theater world of Western Odisha begin with the emerge of Bhumika. The process start with the rehearsal a play “Hati Ku Homeopathy” directed by Sri Ram Chandra Sahu stage on December 5th 1989 at B Ed College, Balangir with a grand success. On December 20th 1989 under the able leadership of a eminent Artist & Poet Chhanda Charan Acharya. With one soul and mind the organization continued its activities with its own efforts and blessing of well-wishers.
Bhumika is a Socio-cultural organization established from 20th December 1989 at Balangir, the western part of Odisha. Late Chhanda Charan Acharya was the founder President. Since then the journey of Bhumika is on to promote, protect, and popularize Theatre in the region. It has taken the pioneer role in its field through manifold activities like Seminars, Street plays, Workshops, Exhibitions and Bisuba Utsav. To take the activity one step up Bhumika is organizing an all India Multilingual Theatre Festival (Mathkhai Mahotsav) since 2006
