Bhubaneswar :-10th January 2018 (By Minaketan Jena) – The 61st All India Congress of Obstetrics & Gynaecology (AICOG) is being organised by The Association of Obstetricians & Gynecologists of Odisha, Cuttack (AOGO) under the aegis of National body, The Federation of Obstetric & Gynaecological Societies of India (FOGSI) from 17th to 21st January 2018 at Janta Maidan, Bhubaneswar. About 8000 delegates from all parts of the country have already registered for this congress. 55 International faculties from different countries like USA, UK, Australia, other European, and Pacific & South Asian Countries are participating in this Science Congress. The organising committee headed by Dr. P. C. Mahapatra, Organising Chairperson, Dr. H. P. Pattanaik, Organising Secretary & Dr. Janmejay Mohapatra, and Treasurer with the dedicated team of AOGO is striving hard to make this congress a successful one. The scientific programme is designed by Dr. Maya Padhi, Scientific Chariperson & President, and AOGO. This National Conference is being held in Odisha for the 3rd time and after a gap of 16 years. The 5 days academic programme will start on 17th January 2018 in form of 11 Pre-congress workshops to be held in 3 Medical Colleges of Bhubaneswar, where the faculties will demonstrate newer techniques by conducting live surgery. The Continued Medical Education Programme (CME) will be held on 18th January 2018. The conference will be inaugurated on 18.01.2018 at 6pm in Janta Maidan, Bhubaneswar by Hon’ble Chief Minister of Odisha, Shri Naveen Patnaik. Sj. Pratap Jena, Hon’ble Minister Health, Family Welfare & Law will be the guest of honour in the function. President, FOGSI, Dr. Rishma Dhillon Pai from Mumbai will preside over the meeting and will hand over charge to the new President, Dr. Jaideep Malhotra from Agra. The President of International Gynec ederation (FIGO) Dr. C. N. Purandare, American Federation (ACOG) Dr. Thomas Gelhous, Royal College (RCOG) President Dr. Lessly Regan, Asia Pacific Federation (AOFOG), Dr. Rohana Hathotua & South Asian Federation (SAFOG) Dr. Rubina Sohail will be the special guests in the function. The scientific programme will continue on 19th, 20th & 21st January 2018, focusing on improving maternal & neonatal care. It will immensely help the attending delegates in updating their skill & knowledge in imparting better patient care. High dignitaries from the department of Health & Family Welfare of central and State Govt. will also be delivering lectures on maternal and child health. The 9 parallel scientific halls, 200 exhibition stalls, large dining area with registration & reception lounge is being constructed in the venue, ‘Janta Maidan’. The accommodation for the attending delegates and faculties is arranged in different hotels and Govt. & private guest houses of Bhubaneswar, Puri & Cuttack. Necessary local travel and sightseeing programme for outside delegates is also arranged. Govt. of Odisha, Department of Tourism, Culture, Police, Fire, BDA & BMC have extended all possible help for this conference. The organising Secretary Dr. H. P. Pattanaik has seeked all support, cooperation & help from all agencies to make this conference a successful one.
