Sambalpur ,6th June 2017 (By Jasvir Singh)-On 06.06.2017, Sri Ganesh Kumar Singh, Junior Clerk, O/o Tahasildar, Gurundia was caught red handed by the Officers of Vigilance, Sambalpur Division while demanding and accepting illegal gratification of Rs.8,000/- from the Complt. Sri Khageswar Patra to process the file for correction of RoR in favour of his mother .The gist of the case is that on 3.10.2016, Smt. Bimala Patra, mother of the complainant had applied to the Tahasildar, Gurundia, Dist-Sundargarh for correction of RoR in her favour. The Tahasildar directed the concerned Revenue Inspector to conduct an enquiry and submit a report in this aspect. Accordingly, the Revenue Inspector enquired into the matter and submitted the report to the Tahasildar. On 25.12.16, the Tahasildar passed order to change Colume-2 of the RoR in favour of Smt. Patra, but the accused Sri Singh kept the file pending with him intentionally without processing . On 3.6.17, the complt. requested Sri Singh to process the file of his mother, but the accused Sri Singh demanded Rs.10,000/- for this purpose. When the complt. expressed his inability to pay such a huge amount, Sri Singh reduced the demanded amount to Rs.8,000/- and asked him to come with the money on 6.6.17. Finding no other alternative, he reported the matter to S.P, Vigilance, Sambalpur Division for initiation of action.Accordingly, a trap was laid on 06.06.2017 inside the premises of Gurundia Tahasil Office. The complt. met the accused Sri Singh in his office, who took him to the Ist floor and as per his direction, the Complt. kept the tainted bribe money in the table drawer of that room. The bribe money has been recovered and seized. The hand wash of accused gave positive chemical reaction confirming acceptance of bribe. The accused has been arrested .In this connection, Sambalpur Vigilance P.S. case No.31 dt.05.06.2017 U/s 7 P.C. Act, 1988 has been registered.
