Forester & GPTA arrested by Vigilance on graft charge

Bhubaneswar ,23.5.2017 (By Debabrat Mohanty) -On 22.05.2017, Sri Jaylal Prasad Sukla, Forester, O/o Forest Range Office, Khariar Road, Nuapada was caught red handed by the Officers of Vigilance, Koraput Division, while demanding and accepting illegal gratification of Rs.30,000/- from Sri Naresh Kumar Chandrakar, Vill. Singpur, Nuapada with an assurance not to initiate any Forest offence case against him.The gist of the case is that the complt. Sri Chandrakar cut down some trees from his recorded land without obtaining any permission from the Forest department. When the accused Sri Sukla, Forester came to know about it, he threatened him to register a Forest offence Case for illegally felling of the trees. The Complt. Sri Chandrakar requested Sri Sukla not to register any case against him. On this, Sri Sukla demanded Rs.30,000/- from the Complt. for this purpose. Finding no other option, he reported the matter to S.P, Vigilance, Koraput Division.Accordingly, a trap was laid on 22.05.2017 at about 10.30 A.M. The accused Sri Sukla was caught red handed in his office room, while demanding and accepting bribe money of Rs.30,000/- from the Complt. Sri Chandrakar. The bribe money has been recovered from the possession of Sri Sukla. His hands and pant pocket wash gave positive chemical reaction confirming acceptance of bribe. The house of Sri Sukla is being searched. He has been arrested and will be forwarded to the court in custody.In this connection, Koraput Vigilance P.S. case No.19 dt.21.05.2017 U/s 7 P.C. Act, 1988 has been registered.similarly On 22.05.2017, Smt. Snehalata Swain, Grampanchayat Techinical Assistant (GPTA), Kukudakhandi Block, Ganjam was caught red handed by the Officers of Vigilance, Berhampur Division, while demanding and accepting illegal gratification of Rs.2,000/- from Sri Manoj Kumar Gouda, S/o-Late Kelu Gouda, Vill. Jogiapalli, PS-Berhampur Sadar to prepare 1st running Bill.The gist of the case is that the complt. Sri Gouda executed the work namely, construction of Anganwadi Centre Building at Village Jogiopalli under Kukudakhandi Block, Ganjam. The Complt. Sri Gouda requested to Smt. Swain, GPTA to prepare 1st running bill. Smt. Swain, GPTA demanded Rs.2,000/- for this purpose. Finding no other option, he reported the matter to S.P, Vigilance, Berhampur Division.Accordingly, a trap was laid on 22.05.2017 at about 10.30 A.M. The accused Smt. Swain was caught red handed in his office room, while demanding and accepting bribe money of Rs.2,000/- from the Complt. Sri Gouda. The bribe money has been recovered from the possession of Smt. Swain. Her hands wash gave positive chemical reaction confirming acceptance of bribe. Her rented residential house at Niladri Vihar, Berhampur is being searched. Smt. Swain has been arrested and will be forwarded to the court in custody.In this connection, Berhampur Vigilance P.S. case No.28 dt.20.05.2017 U/s 7 P.C. Act, 1988 has been registered.
