Bhubaneswar :8th May 2017 (By Debabrat Mohanty) – Odisha and internationally acclaimed sand artist Padma Shri Sudarsan Pattnaik will be carving the largest sand sculpture of Lord Buddha at Colombo during the 14th ‘International Vesak Day’ celebrations in Sri Lanka,sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik is all set to create the world’s longest sand Buddha in Sri Lanka.Pattnaik said that he has been invited by the High Commission of India in Colombo to participate in the 14th International Vesak Day Celebrations organized by Government of Sri Lanka. sources said.Pattnaik is all set to leave for Colombo on the invitation of India High Commissioner to Sri Lanka to participate in the ‘International Vesak Day’ celebrations there, sources added. The internationally acclaimed sand artist intends to create a new record by making the largest sand sculpture of Lord Budha at the five-day-long celebrations which have begun from Friday in the Sri Lankan capital Before leaving for Sri Lanka the renowned sand artist said he plans to create the world’s longest sand Buddha near the Parliament house of the island country.“The five-day event will begin on May 10 and we will start creating the 50-ft long sand Buddha from tomorrow,” said Pattnaik.The internationally acclaimed artist has recently won the jury prize gold medal at the 10th Moscow Sand Art Championship 201. It may be recalled here that Pattnaik had won the jury prize gold medal at the recently concluded Moscow Sand Art Championship-2017.
