Forester arrested

On 17.04.2017, Sri Jyotiranjan Mohapatra, Forester, Sukinda Forest Section under Sukinda Forest Range, Jajpur was caught red handed by the Officers of Vigilance, Cuttack Division, while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs.4,000/- from Sri Gagan Kumar Das, S/o Sri Surendra Das, Vill/P.O/P.S-Sukinda, Jajpur for transportation of boulders etc. in his truck passing through the forest areas, which is coming under his jurisdiction.The gist of the case is that the complainant Sri Das is having a tractor, who transports boulders from different stone quarries and delivers the same to the persons mainly for construction of houses.  He plies the tractor in forest road, for which, the accused Sri Mohapatra was invariably demanding money from him to allow transportation of boulders in forest road.  In order to have a deterrent effects and to check the corrupt practice, the complainant reported the matter to S.P, Vigilance, Cuttack Division.  Accordingly, a trap was laid on 17.04.2017 at about 12.55 P.M. The accused Sri Mohapatra was caught red handed in his office room, while demanding and accepting bribe money of Rs.4,000/- from the Complt. The bribe money has been recovered from the possession of Sri Mohapatra.  Both the hands wash as well as pant pocket wash gave positive chemical reaction confirming acceptance of bribe.  His residential house at Badambadi behind Govt. bus stand, Cuttack and paternal house at Kulashree village, P.S-Niali, Cuttack are being searched.  Sri Mohapatra has been arrested and will be forwarded to the court in custody.   In this connection, Cuttack Vigilance P.S. case No.20 dt.16.04.2017 U/s 7 P.C. Act, 1988 has been registered against Sri Mohapatra.

ACCOUNTANT, TAX COLLECTOR AND HOTEL OWNER ARRESTED by Vigilance on graft   CHARGE:

On 17.04.2017, Smt. Sarmistha Swain, Accountant, O/o NAC, Gopalpur, Dist.Ganjam, Sri Kedar Bangari, Tax Collector, NAC, Gopalpur, Dist.Ganjam and Sri G.Bangali Dora, Hotel Owner were caught red handed by the Officers of Vigilance, Berhampur Division, while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs.7,000/- from Sri Balaram Sethi, S/o Sri Purushottam Sethi, Vill. New Venkaraipur, P.S-Gopalpur, Dist.Ganjam for release of security deposit.The gist of the case is that the complainant Sri Sethi is a ‘B’ Class Contractor, who had constructed the open vending zones and renovated the drain work of VIP road, Gopalpur under NAC, Gopalpur.  Prior to execution of the work, he had deposited Rs.36,095/- in the office of NAC, Gopalpur as security deposit.  He received the entire bill amounting to Rs.8,03,485/- towards execution of the works, but despite repeated efforts, he did not get his security deposit.  He requested Smt. Swain, Accountant, NAC, Gopalpur to process the file for releasing of the security deposit, who demanded Rs.7,000/- from the complainant for the above purpose.  The complainant reported the matter to S.P, Vigilance, Berhampur for initiation of action.  Accordingly, a trap was laid on 17.04.2017 at about 02.00 P.M.  At about 01.30 P.M, the complainant met the accused Smt. Swain, who enquired from him about the bribe money and when he replied in affirmative, the accused directed him to hand over the bribe money to Sri Kedar Bangari, Tax Collector.  Accordingly Sri Bangari received the bribe money and went to the nearby hotel ‘Balaji’ and requested Sri G.Bangali Dora, Hotel Owner to change the tainted money.  The bribe money has been recovered from the possession of Sri Dora, Hotel Owner.  The rented residential houses of both the accused persons (Public servants) are being searched.  All the three accused persons have been arrested and will be forwarded to the court in custody tomorrow.   In this connection, Berhampur Vigilance P.S. case No.23 dt.17.04.2017 U/s 7 P.C. Act, 1988 has been registered.
