Subrata Kumar Mahanty of Katapali gets Gold Medal in IIM Calcutta

Bargarh 4th April 2017: Shri Subrata Kumar Mahanty was awarded gold medal for standing first in the batch in Post Graduate program for Executives for Visionary Leadership in Manufacturing (PGPEX-VLM) at Indian Institute of Management Calcutta. It was awarded on 1st April 2017 during the 52nd annual convocation of IIM Calcutta where the president was the chief guest.Subrata is from Katapali village near Bargarh. He had completed his B.Tech from VSSUT, Burla in 2009. Before joining IIM Calcutta, he has experience of 6 years in Tata Motors car plant at Pune and truck plant at Jamshedpur. He also has an experience of a manufacturing start up as a plant head. He has the motivation to transform Eastern India into a value added manufacturing state from the traditional metal producing state. He believes that hard work, respect for others and the debt of the homeland are the three most important things in life.He was influenced in science, technology and the way of leading a life since his childhood mostly by his father Shri Paramananda Mahanty who is the headmaster in Salana High School. His mother Shrimati Rajashree Mahapatra is headmaster at Katapali boys primary school.
