Junior Clerk arrested by Vigilance on graft charge
Cuttack ,30th March 2017 : (By Sanjit Kumar Mohanty) On 30.03.2017, Sri Sukanta Kumar Das, Jr.Clerk, I/c of Lease Section, Kujanga Tahasil Office, Dist. Jagatsinghpur was caught red handed by the Officers of Vigilance, Cuttack Division, while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs.10,000/- from Sri Prabir Behera, S/o late Sanatan Behera of Village-Pipala, P.S-Paradeep Lock, Dist. Jagatsinghpur to process the Lease Case No.11/15 of Kujanga Tahasil Office in his favour. Sri Behera expressed his inability to pay such a huge amount and requested him to reduce the amount demanded by him. Despite repeated requests, Sri Das did not listen and stick to his demand. Then, he reported the matter to S.P, Vigilance, Cuttack Division. Accordingly, a trap was laid on 30.03.2017 at about 2.55 P.Ṃ. The accused Sri Das, Jr. Clerk was caught red handed in his Office room, while demanding and accepting bribe money of Rs.10,000/- from the Complt. The accused Sri Das received the bribe money and kept the same in his Office Almirah. The bribe money has been recovered. Both hands wash as well as surface wash of the Almirah was taken, which gave positive chemical reaction confirming acceptance of bribe. His residential house situated at Ranahata, P.S/Dist.Jagatsinghpur is being searched.In this connection, Cuttack Vig. P.S. case No.15 dt.29.03.2017 U/s 7 P.C. Act has been registered. The accused has been arrested and will be forwarded in custody.
