Bhubaneswar, 06.03.2017 (By Minaketan Jena):To realize the importance of equality of access and opportunities in education and to show the love and gratitude towards women in our societythe family Counseling Center of Indian Red Cross, Orissa State Branch has celebrated the International Women’s Day at Red Cross Bhavan, Bhubaneswar.Inaugurating this day celebration as the Chief Guest, Commissioner of Police Bhubaneswar Cuttack Shri Y.B. Khurania, IPSemphasized the women empowerment could be achieved after accessing to the Govt. welfare schemes. Besides he added that Commissionerate police is always ready to support the work of Family Counselling Center of Red Cross.Sub-Committee Member, FCC and Juvenile Justice MemberMrs. NamrataChaddha, and Mrs. Latika Pradhan, Chairperson, State Social Welfare Board, Odisha joined as Guests of Honour and said we all should raise awareness about the struggles of women in the society and honour their achievements and advised the participants to avail the benefit of family counseling center of IRCS-OSB. They added that the work of FCC in Red Cross is praiseworthy.Honorary Secretary, IRCS-OSB Dr. GyanabrataMohantywelcome all the participants and expressed that women are becoming more powerful in business, politics and many more areas, there are still a lot of inequalities around the world which call for the mobilization of everybody to grant women the proper status they merit.Dr. Major Kalpana Das, YRCO-cum-Honorary Jt. Secretary coordinated the programme and said women empowerment lies in honoring yourself and treating yourself with respect. No one can put you down without your permission, on the event of Women’s Day, let us all promise to create a better world to live in. At the end of the programme 5 persons were honored with ‘women of success’ for their success stories by the Guests and the programme was ended with a vote of thanks by FCC Consellor Mrs.BijayalaxmiKar, assisted by Mrs. PritiPragyan Das FCC Counselor.
