OIC CONVICTED IN VIGILANCE CASE.

 Cuttack.03.03.2017 (By Tapas Mohapatra)- Basing on the report of the Complt. Rahim Mohanta of Tambatara Village, the above noted case was registered against Sri Durga Charan Mohanty, Ex-OIC, Harichandanpur P.S, Dist.Keonjhar for demand of illegal gratification of Rs.1,800/- from him to release him on bail in Harichandanpur P.S.Case No.44/2000.  On completion of investigation, the case was charge sheeted against Sri Mohanty to face the trial in the court of law.  On 03.03.2017, the Hon’ble Special Judge, Vigilance, Keonjhar convicted Sri Mohanty and sentenced him to undergo R.I for a period of 03 years and to pay fine of Rs.30,000/-, in default, to undergo R.I for 06 months for the offence U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d) P.C.Act, 1988.  He was further sentenced to undergo R.I for 02 years, pay fine of Rs.20,000/-, in default, to undergo R.I for a period of 03 months for the offence U/s 7 P.C.Act, 1988.  Substantive sentences are to run concurrently.    Sri B.K.Sahu, OPS, Ex-D.S.P, Vigilance, Keonjhar Unit was the Trap Lying Officer, Sri D.Naik, Ex-Inspector of Police, Vigilance, Keonjhar Unit was the Investigating Officer and Sri D.D.Biswal, Special P.P, Vigilance Court, Keonjhar conducted the case on behalf of the prosecution.
