Sri Sri University: Trendsetting Synthesiser of Traditional and Global Outlook
Bhubaneswar ,1st March 2017 (By Pranta Ku.Bhuyan ) It is a proud moment for Sri Sri Ravishankarji founder of Sri Sri University at Cuttack. The university is a proud recipient of the BEST UNIVERSITY- TRENDSETTING SYNTHESIZER OF TRADITIONAL AND GLOBAL OUTLOOK at the 10 th ASSOCHAM Higher Education Summit, 2017, which was held on 23 rd February, 2017, at Hotel Imperial, New Delhi. The awards were presented by Mr. Sandeep Jajodia,President of ASSOCHAM. Dr. Nand Lal, the present Vice-Chancellor of Sri Sri University, personally collected the Award on behalf of the University. The Chief Guest at the awards ceremony was Dr. Prakash Javdekar, Hon’ble Minister for Human Resource Development, Govt. of India. The occasion was attended by the Who’s-Who of the Academia and the Indian Industrialists. The summit focussed on major areas related to the emerging roles of Indian universities and higher educational institutes on issues relating to employability and competencies that are required to survive in the professional atmosphere of the 21st century; the entrepreneurial ecosystems in higher educational institutes that focus on global and local contexts, SWOT Analyses, the need for policies and action plans, and a culture that would foster research and innovation, making India a nation of job- creators instead of job-seekers. Sri Sri University is located on the banks of the Katjodi River, above a hillock that used to be a stone quarry with a barren topography. The total area of the university is 186 acres. Presently, it runs courses on MBA (General Management, Agribusiness and Entrepreneurship), MSc in Osteopathy, MA in Good Governance and Public Policy, MA in Sanskrit and Philosophy, MA in Journalism and Mass Communication, MA and BA in Yoga, BFA (Painting), BA (Odissi Dance and Hindustani Classical Music), B.Arch, BBA, B.Com, B.Com (Vocational) in Travel and Tourism, B.Voc, B.Sc (Hons.) in Agriculture, PGD in Financial Markets and PhD in Management and Good Governance.
