Interception of Sri Ashok Kumar Das, Forest Range Officer, Wild Life Range, Tangi, under Balugaon Wild Life Division, Balugaon, Khurdha
Cuttack ,28.02.2017 (By Tapas Mohapatra)- On receipt of reliable information regarding collection of huge amount as illegal gratification by Sri Ashok Kumar Das, Forest Range Officer, Wild Life Range, Tangi, under Balugaon Wild Life Division, Balugaon, Khurdha, he was intercepted today i.e. on 28.02.2017 at 2.15 PM by the Vigilance Officers of Khurdha Squad Office near his residential house situated at Tangi. During his personal search, a sum of Rs.5,55,480/- of different denominations was seized from his hand bag. On being asked, Sri Das failed to account for satisfactorily for possession of such a huge amount. The houses of Sri Das situated at Sisupalgarh, Bhubaneswar and at village Dhamilo under Balianta PS are being searched to unearth possession of further assets.
Panchayat Executive Officer convicted in Vigilance Case.
The above noted case was registered against Sri Golaka Bihari Pujhari, Ex-Secretary-cum-PEO, Dundenmal Gram Panchayat under Junagarh Block, Kalahandi, A/P-PEO, Koksara Block, Kalahandi for misappropriation of Qtls. 194.75 of APL rice, Qtls. 69.65 of AAY rice, Qtls. 60.25 of BPL rice, Qtls. 3.70 of Annapurna rice, Qtls. 82.17 of wheat, Qtls. 9.81 of sugar and 4575 litres of Kerosene Oil amounting to Rs.9,60,259/-. On completion of investigation, charge sheet was submitted against Sri Pujhari to face the trial in the Court of Law.On 28.02.2017, the Hon’ble Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhawanipatna pronounced his judgement and sentenced Sri Pujhari to undergo Rigorous Imprisonment for 03 years and to pay a fine of Rs.10,83,385, 73 paise, in default of payment of fine, to undergo Rigorous Imprisonment for 06 months for the offence U/s 409 IPC. Further, he was sentenced to undergo Rigorous Imprisonment for 03 years and to pay a fine of Rs.1,000/-, in default of payment of fine, to undergo Rigorous Imprisonment for 01 month for the offence U/s 13(2) r/w13(1)(c) P.C Act 1988 IPC. The substantive sentences are to run concurrently. Sri Birendra Kumar Nayak, Ex- DSP, Vigilance, Bhawanipatna Unit was the I.O of the case and Sri Asutosh Mishra, Special P.P, Vigilance, Bhawanipatna conducted the case on behalf of the prosecution.
