Bhubaneswar ,13.11.2016 ( By Biswaranjan Mishra)- The 15th Anjali National Children’s Festival will be held from 14th to 18th November 2016 at Adivasi Exhibition Grounds Unit I. The theme for this year is ‘Celebrating Childhood.”3 teams from SAARC (Sri Lanka, Nepal & Bhutan), 12 teams from outside Odisha, and 38 teams from the state are participating in the camp. J&K, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Manipur, Tripura, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry states/UT are participating. Students from different mainstream schools of the city like Mothers Public School, Sai International, KIIT International, Doon International, DAV Pokhriput, DAV Unit VII, St Xavier Satyanagar, St Xaviers Khandagiri, KISS, Guidance English Schools, Hariharananda Balashram 30 government schools, and numerous NGOs/institutions will participate in the various events and activities.   Children from OLS, BBC school for the Deaf, Ramadevi Sishu Vihar and many other special schools will be a part of the camp.The festival will be coordinated by 142 college students (and past volunteers who are now professionals and working), from various main stream colleges of the city like Ravenshaw University, Ramadevi University, BJB (Autonomous) college, Centurion University, Biju Patnaik College of Social Work, Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences, Utkal University, Institute of Media Studies, Indian Institute of Mass Communications (Dhenkanal), UN Autonomous College, Chocolate Group, Ekamra College, Kamala Nehru College, NCC cadets, Maharshi College of Natural Law, Maharashi Women’s College, etc.On the opening day of Anjali, all its members including the chief coordinator Dr. Sruti Mohapatra, staff, volunteers, participants from across the country and within the state, guests, celebrities, and different people from different walks of life will be joining the carnival to mark the journey of love. After the carnival, Hon’ble Union Minister Sri Dharmendra Pradhan along with Maj. Gen. B.K.Mohapatra (retd) and former chief secretary of Odisha, Gokul Ch. Pati will inaugurate the festival, exhibitions and sand art.The four festivals to be celebrated are Karthik Purnima, Holi, Eid and Christmas. Religious speakers from three major religions will be giving their views on communal harmony.5th edition of Biscope will be held from 16th to 18th November at Bhanja Kala Mandap.Two new workshops Pantomime and 3D Model of Smart City from children’s perspective will be conducted along with craft, balloon sculpture, pottery, dance, music, theatre, magic, art, mask, ventriloquism, yoga and DIY crafts.A very attracting feature of Anjali this year is the maiden disability arts festival Swayam (15-18). Artists with different disabilities will do live art. Another attraction is the sand art by famous sand artist Padmashri Sudarshan Patnaik.
