CIFA observes swachhata Pakhwada
Bhubaneswar 1.11.2016 (By Biswaranjan Mishra)-ICAR-Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture under the administrative control of Indian Council of Agricultural Research (Minister of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Govt. of India) observed “SwachhataPakhwada” during 16-31 October, 2016 by organizing various activities. The Institute has reached out to Fish Farmers, Students and Common citizen with the message of cleanliness.On the concluding ceremony, Dr.(Prof.) Prasanna Kumar Patasani, Honb’le MP, Bhubaneswar urged the employees of ICAR-CIFA to continue this drive throughout the year and praised the institute for successfully observing this Pakhawada.Dr. P. Jayasankar, Director, ICAR-CIFA while welcoming the participants mentioned about the significance of cleanliness and observing the Pakhwada.Dr. Jayasankar urged everyone to emulate developed nations which have progressed because of their commitment to cleanliness.Dr. S. N. Patra, President, Odisha Environment Societycalled for a change in our lifestyle to reduce environmental pollution. Dr. S. C. Rath, Principal Scientist and Chairman of Swachha Bharat Mission of ICAR-CIFA mentioned about various activities done during this SwachhataPakhwadasuch as mass cleaning; awareness of cleanliness and quiz competition among school children; protection of environment through plantation and also activities organized for cleanliness drive both outside and within the Institute campus.One leaflet and one poster on ‘Clean Fish Production’ were released on this occasion. Prizes were distributed among the school children for the elocution and quiz competition. Mr. I. Sivaraman, Scientist, ICAR-CIFA proposed vote of thanks.
