Aska Vigilance trap Case
Aska (Ganjam) 22.10.2016:Basing on the report of the Complt. Sri Sankar Panigrahi, S/o Sri Prkash Chandra Panigrahi of Sitaram Sahi, Aska Road, P.S.Badabazar, Berhampur, Dist.Ganjam, the above noted case has been registered against Sri Dharanidhar Swain, Tax collector office of the Berhampur Municipal Corporation, Berhampur for demanding illegal gratification of Rs.1,000/- to delete the name of his grandmother from the Assessment number. The gist of the case is that the ancestral house building of the Complt. was assessed in the name of his father and grandmother Kanchan Panigrahi vide Assessment No.3593/0/6. In the meanwhile, his grandmother expired. On 20.09.2016, his father submitted an application to the Commissioner, BMC, Berhampur to delete the name of his grandmother from the Assessment number. The complt. contacted Sri Dharanidhar Swain and requested him to process the file. On this, Sri Swain demanded Rs.1,000/-. Accordingly, a trap was laid on 22.10.2016. The accused Sri Swain was caught red handed while demanding & accepting bribe money from the Complt. in his office room. Both the hands wash as well as shirt pocket wash of the accused Sri Swain were taken in sodium carbonate solution, which gave positive chemical reaction confirming acceptance of bribe money. The accused has been arrested and will be forwarded to the Court.
