HOUSE SEARCH OF JAIL SUPERINTENDENT BY VIGILANCE ON DISPROPORTIONATE ASSETS ANGLE :
crimeCuttack 23.09.2016 (By Tapas Mohapatra)-   Today i.e. on 23.09.2016 on the allegation of acquisition and possession of disproportionate assets by Sri Karna Pradhan, Supdt of District Jail, Puri, his (1) Govt. Quarter at Puri (2) double storied building at Matiapada, Puri  (3) double building at Behera Sahi, Nayapalli, Bhubaneswar (4) paternal house at Village Mankaragaradi, PS-Konarka, Dist- Puri and (5) office room at   Dist Jail, Puri were simultaneously searched by the Officers of   Vigilance  Bhubaneswar  Division  on the strength of Search Warrant issued by Court. During search so far, the following movable and immovable assets have been detected from the possession of Sri Karna Pradhan  in his name and in the names of his family members. Immovable properties consist of two double storied building at Matiapada Puri and Behera Sahi, Nayapalli, Bhubaneswar   amounting to Rs. 81,55,456/-,  Movable Assets like house hold articles, one  motorcycle, one Bajaj Check Scooter amounting to  Rs. 1,91,000/-. hard cash of Rs. 1,12,920/- and Gold     ornament  weighing-50 gms. amounting to Rs. 1,20,000/-. Beside this, a sum of   Rs. 34,77,067/- has been deposited in different banks & LIC Policies.   Total immovable & movable assets of Sri Karna Pradhan, Supdt of District Jail, Puri calculated so far comes to  Rs.1,20,56,443/-.Sri Karna Pradhan   joined as Asst Jailor on 03.02.1981 and was posted to Rourkela Special Jail .Later on, he was posted to Dist Jail Puri, where he was promoted to the rank of Jailor  in Aug. 1987. He worked as Jailor at Dharmagarh, Bhawanipatna, Khurda, Bhadrak, Rayagada, Bhubaneswar, Dhenkanal and Nimapada. He was promoted to the rank of Supdt. of Jail on 13.5.13 and was posted to Dist. Jail, Puri, where he is continuing till date. Further search and investigation are in progress.
  CLERK caught by VIGILANCE ON GRAFT CHARGE
Cuttack 23.09.2016 (By Tapas Mohapatra)-Today i.e, on 23.9.2016, Sri Brahamanda Kanhar, Clerk, CHC, Tikabali, Dist-Kandhamal  was caught by the Officers of Berhampur  Vigilance Division for demanding and accepting illegal gratification of   Rs. 500/- from the Complainant Sri Nilambara Behera, Vill- Chatijhar PS- Tikabali, Dist-Kandhamal. In this connection, Berhampur Vigilance P.S Case No. 51 dt.22.09.2016 U/s 7 P.C. Act, 1988 has been registered. Complainant Sri Nilambara Behera alleged that he had applied for issuance of  death certificate of his father at Tikabali Community Health Centre and submitted all documents. He requested    Sri Kanhar, Clerk to issue the death certificate. Sri Kanhar demanded   Rs.1,500/-    for the above purpose. After negotiation,  accused Sri Kanhar reduced the  bribe amount to Rs.500/-.  Finding no other way, the complainant reported to Vigilance. As per direction of S.P, Vigilance, Berhampur, a trap was laid on dt.23.9.2016. Accused Sri Kanhar was caught red handed in the office  of Community Health Centre, Tikabali by the Vigilance Officers of Berhampur Division  while demanding and accepting bribe of   Rs. 500/- from the Complainant   Sri Behera. Bribe money of Rs. 500/- has been recovered from the possession of Sri Kanhar, Clerk and seized in presence of witnesses. Hand & pant pocket wash of accused Sri Kanhar gave positive chemical reaction confirming acceptance of bribe.  Investigation is in progress.

  PHARMASIST  caught by VIGILANCE ON GRAFT CHARGE
Cuttack 23.09.2016 (By Tapas Mohapatra)-Today i.e, on 23.9.2016, Sri Santosh Panda, Pharmasist,CHC, Purunakataka, Dist-Boudh  was caught by the Officers of Berhampur  Vigilance Division for demanding and accepting illegal gratification of   Rs. 700/- from the Complainant Sri Subash Behera, Vill- Kamalpur, PS- Purunakatak. In this connection, Berhampur Vigilance P.S Case No. 52 dt.22.09.2016 U/s 7 P.C. Act, 1988 has been registered.Complainant Sri Subash Behera alleged that his wife gave birth a baby  girl child at CHC, Purunakatak. He requested    Sri Panda, Pharmasist to get his Janani Surkhya Card, Govt. Welfare fund of Rs.1,400/- and birth certificate. Sri Panda demanded   Rs.700/- for    the above purpose.  Finding no other way, the complainant reported to Vigilance.As per direction of S.P, Vigilance, Berhampur, a trap was laid on dt.23.9.2016. Accused Sri Panda, Pharmasist was caught red handed in the office  of Community Health Centre, Purunakatak by the Vigilance Officers of Berhampur Division  while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs. 700/- from the Complainant   Sri Behera.
