CUO organizes Mass Singing of the National Anthem  to commemorate 70 years of Independence

AN-1Bhubaneswar 23.08.2016 (By Biswaranjan Mishra)-The freedom fortnight Azaadi 70-Yaad Karo Kurbani celebrated at Central University of Odisha from 9 -23 August 2016 ended with the mass singing of the National Anthem on both the campuses of the University today. Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Sachidananda Mohanty, led the mass singing of the National Anthem.   To commemorate the 70 years of Independence the varsity conducted different programmes like CUO-HAL Distinguished Lecture, tree plantation, flag hoisting and essay competition. On this occasion, CUO-HAL Distinguished Lecture on ‘Swaraj and the Divided Republic: Sri Aurobindo’s Dream of a New India’ was organized on 11.08.2016 at Bhanja Mandap, Sunabeda. Prof. Makarand R. Paranjape, Professor of English, Jawaharlal Nehru University New Delhi delivered the distinguished lecture. On 15th August the University conducted massive tree plantation programme at its permanent campus after flag hoisting ceremony. More than 13,000 samples have been planted at the permanent campus. An essay competition was organized on the topic “Role of the Youth in National Freedom Struggle” in English, Odia and Hindi languages at both campuses on 18.08.16. The competition was organized to remind the sacrifices of the freedom fighters in the freedom struggle of the nation. The fortnight programme was celebrated as per the direction of the Government of India
