Vedanta launches free cataract operation campaign

Lanjigarh: 8 th Aug 2016: In line with the objectives of providing good health services to the people in and around Lanjigarh, Vedanta has launched a free cataract operation  campaign. In partnership with Vedanta Hospital, a health service NGO – Punarutthan and Mahanadi Lepra Rye Hospital, Sonepur, today marks the first phase of the campaign. A total of 41 patients from various villages in Lanjigarh block such as Champadeipur, Biswanathpur, Trilochanpur, Maguni, Jodabandh, Borapadar and Asurpada etc. were referred for the cataract operation. “After necessary health checkups, the patients will be operated at the Mahanadi Lepra Eye hospital at Sonpur”, an official from Vedanta Hospital has said. The  campaign was launched by Mr. Bimalananda Senapati, Plant Head and Mr. JalajMalpani, Head Finance, Vedanta limited, Lanjigarh in presence of Mr. Mahendra Raut, Head HR, Dr. Akshya Sahoo, Chief Medical Officer, Vedanta limited, Lanjigarh and other employees of the company. Vedanta has been a part of many community development activities in the region. The company is committed to take further efforts to strengthen the community development initiatives in the region, Mr. Senapati said. It is noteworthy fact that 34 patients have already been cured in earlier phases of cataract operation camps organized by the company.
