Mahanadi Coalfields wins 1st Prize in SCOPE Corporate Communication Excellence Awards 2016

SCOPE_AWARD to MCL

Sambalpur ,23.07.2016 (By Jasvir Singh)-Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL), an Odisha-based flagship subsidiary of Coal India Limited, has won the 1st Prize for ‘’Effective and Innovative use of Digital Communication’’ at the SCOPE Corporate Communication Excellence Awards 2016. Mr Vinayak D Jamwal, Public Relations Officer, MCL, received the award on behalf of company at SCOPE Corporate Communication Summit 2016, which concluded in New Delhi yesterday. The 2nd prize in this category was won by RailTel while IRCTC was given a special prize.   MCL was selected for this coveted award, instituted by Standing Conference of Public Enterprise (SCOPE), New Delhi, by a jury comprising Mr. S.K. Chaturvedi, Chairman, Jt. Deepak Sandhu, former Principal, DG PIB & former Chief Information Commissioner of India and Mr. Sarthak Behuria, Executive Director, CNG & LPG Adani Group, former CMD, IOCL & former Chairman, SCOPE  MCL is not only the first company in Coal India to foray into social media platforms, like  Facebook and You Tube, but with a proactive approach of Team Vigilance headed Mr Deepak Srivastava, IFoS, Chief Vigilance Officer, MCL also leveraged IT to its business  operations as a medium of bringing greater transparency in to company functions.GPS- based Vehicle Tracking System (VTS), Geo-fencing, e-tendering, in-motion weigh bridges, use of CoalNet for financial and HR management, Online Materials Management System Module (OMMS) as well as GPS-based monitoring of trucks supplying drinking  water in peripheral areas under CSR are a few such examples that make MCL a Smart Coal Miner.This SCOPE award for use of digital communication recognises coordinated efforts put in  by company’s mining project areas and the departments, particularly the Systems  Department and the Electronics  &Telecommunication Department, in augmenting  business operations, besides strategic use of social and digital media platforms by the corporate communication.
