Cuttack ,29.06.2016 (By Tapas Mahapatra)-Today i.e. on 29.6.2016 Sri Samartha Mohanty, Food Safety Officer, O/o the CDMO, Jharsuguda has been caught by Vigilance Officers of Sambalpur Division for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs.30,000/- from the complainant Smt. Sangita Das, At-Purunabasti, Dist.Jharsuguda. In this connection Sambalpur Vigilance P.S case No. 63 dt. 28.06.2016 u/s 7 P.C.Act has been registered. The complainant Smt. Sangita Das alleged that his husband Sri Sanjaya Kumar Das had applied for reissuing of Registration Certificate in his favour which was earlier issued to him for running of business of food supplement but cancelled by the accused Sri Samartha Mohanty on 09.06.2016. Complainant Smt. Das requested to accused Sri Mohanty to issue Registration Certificate for reopening and running of business of food supplement. Accused Sri Mohanty demanded Rs.30,000/- for the above purpose. Finding no other alternative the complainant reported to Vigilance. As per direction of S.P, Vigilance, Sambalpur, a trap was laid on 29.06.2016. Accused Sri Samartha Mohanty, Food Safety Officer was caught red handed in his office room by the Vigilance Officers of Sambalpur Division while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs.30,000/- from complt. Smt. Sangita Das. The bribe money of Rs.30,000/- was recovered from the possession of Sri Mohanty, Food Safety Officer and has been seized in presence of witnesses. Hand wash of Sri Mohanty gave positive chemical reaction confirming acceptance of the bribe.
