IP AWAKE : CII-DIPP Road Shows on IPR Awareness and National IP Policy

Bhubaneswar,27.06.2016 (By Mano Mani Singh)-Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) along with Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion (DIPP) is organizing 10 road shows in the country.  As part of the initiative, a Road Show on IPR Awareness and National IP Policy held on 25 June 2016 at TCS Auditorium in Bhubaneswar.The main objective of the road show was to spread awareness on Patents, Trademarks and Designs with other forms of IPRs among the Industry and Academia and also to sensitize about the New IPR policy 2016.

Mr Manoj Panda, Convenor, ICT Panel, CII Odisha and Delivery Centre Head, TCS who presided, briefed on Intellectual Property Rights need to be prioritized. Deputy Controller, Patents & Designs, Dr Santosh Kumar Samantaray spoke on the importance of IP especially for small scale industries and the importance of patents and designs and its filing procedures.DIPP official from Cell for IPR Promotion and. Management (CIPAM), Mr Raghav Arora explained the nuts and bolts of recently launched National IP Policy 2016 and appraised the benefits to start-up companies towards promoting the IP filings. Mr Debanjan Chakrabortty, Examiner of Trademarks and Geographical Indications, Kolkata, gave a presentation on the trademarks and their advantages to the individual and companies. He also spoke on imortance of Geographical Indications.The speakers from Indian Patents, Designs and Trademarks office explained the salient features of IPR and their advantages. They gave details on New National IPR Policy 2016. Around 60 participants from several sectors and academia joined the workshop.
