Bhubaneswar,26.06.2016 (By Mano Mani Singh)-Using the platform of Raahgiri, a program to Celebrate Helen Keller’s Day was organized by Aaina NGO working in the area of disability for more than 16years. Aaina is working for the rights of deaf blind children since July 2015 with active support of Sense India International in the district of Khurda and Ganjam which involves home based and inclusive education and also therapeutic services to the deaf blind and multi sensory children with disabilities.Aaina organized a bicycle rally and Public Meet at Raahgiri Platform to celebrate Helen Keller day observed on June 27, memorizing the contribution of this famous personality towards the deaf blind communities. A bicycle rally of about 45 people creating awareness on disability through inspirational messages on placards was organized from Ram Mandir to Master Canteen. Deafblind children, their parents, NGO staff, Staff from TCS and Bharti Infratel (Corporate partners of Aaina) participated in the rally along with Aaina staff. A Public Meet followed the rally where information on importance of Helen Keller Day and strengths of People with Disability were shared. Esteemed guests Mr. Sudhanshu Mishra (BMC Deputy Commissioner), Mr. Debaprasad Dash (Joint Secretary SCEPD), and Mr. R.K. Sharma (Asst Director VRC)were special guests for the rally and at Public Meeting.
