Bhubaneswar,20.06.2016 (By Mano Mani Singh)-Railway engineers play vital role in the construction of railway projects and they should be given social justice said by Bhartruhari Mahatab, MP & chief guest of the seminar organized by East Coast Railway Engineers Association (ECoREA). Seminar was organized on integrated growth through E. Co. Railway & Odisha state partnership during 8 th annual general meeting of ECoREA. In his speech, Mahatab told that state government is committed for the development of railway network in the state. Signing of MOU is not meant for the development of the state only, but it is also for the development of railway department. Railway should give justice to its engineers instead of neglecting continuously who are keys of the development. He suggested the railway engineers to file application before parliament committee on petition. He also assured that he would try to bring the demands in the debate in the parliament.Among other guests, MP Sri Nagendra Kumar Pradhan told that he has already raised twice before the parliament and railway has given reply but it is observed that some facts are kept hide. He added that he would definitely bring the notice of parliament and railway minister soon to give justice to the railway engineers. Another guest & MP Balabhadra Majhi assured that being the member of Railway Standing Committee, he would try to include in the forthcoming agenda of committee and accord justice to them. He told that during his discussion with railway minister, he suggested to recruit more railway engineers for better progress of the projects. In the beginning of the seminar, ECoREA general secretary Er. B. P. Dash welcomed the guests and told that odisha state government and railway board have signed three MOUs for the projects Khurda Road-Bolangir, Jeypore-Malkangiri and Jeypore-Nawarangpur. ECoREA president Er. Bobin Mohanty proposed to construct new line between Puri-Konark to attract tourists and to connect Jajpur Road with Dhamra Port & Dhamra Port with Paradip port to export minerals. President of All India Railway Engineers Federation (AIREF) Er. Sanjib Kumar told that without railway engineers, a single railway project can not be constructed. They are the architects of the railway developments. But railway has been neglecting them. They have been kept with their workmen in group – C for which they have lost social status but their counterpart engineers in other departments are given group-B status. Their pay structure is less than the non technical staff of railway with absolutely zero promotional prospectus. He requested all guests to bring a debate on railway engineers to give group-B status to railway engineers with higher pay structures and promotional avenue. He also demanded to give recognition to AIREF as given in all other departments of central & state governments.More than 300 railway engineers from East Coast Railway zone and other railway zones attended the meeting.
