Bhubaneswar.19.06.2016 (By Mano Mani Singh)-The 23 rd Raahgiri turned the heart line of Janpath into a professional Yoga practice area. The 23 rd Raahgiri had the theme of Yoga practice as the International Yoga Day is on 21 st June. A number of organisations participated in the Raahgiri along with their member. Yoga is one of the key components of Raahgiri including cycling, walking, scatting and Music. Interestingly people from all the gender, male, female and trans genders were seen practicing yoga on the activity corner of the Janpath. Various categories of participants like Students, youth and senior citizens practiced yoga in the Janpath. Health Minister played cricket/ Practiced Yoga Health Minister Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak and veteran Fast Bowler Debasish Mohanty were among the guest who encouraged about practice of Yoga. They were seen playing cricket with the Raahgiri participants. Mr. Nayak also gave suggestions to the participants on the benefits of yoga. It may be noted that AYUSH organisation working under the Health Department has sponsored today’s Raahgiri on the eve of International Yoga Day. Awareness on Drugs and Alcohol Some of the organisations created awareness against abuse of drugs and alcohol. Volunteers of a organisation seen showing ‘NEWSPAPER CLIPPINGS’’ in a placard describing the abuse of alcohol. Volunteers were seen spreading awareness on this topic. World Elderly Abuse Awareness Day: June 18 is being observed as World Elderly Abuse Day, for which PECUC organisation carried out some awareness activities on the theme. Sambalpuri Song thrilled music lovers: Artists of Ama kalakar Group performed Sambalpuri songs, which won the heart of music lovers. Artists from various districts performed traditional dances. During Raahgiri it rained for 2/3 times with little showers which made the participant more excitedand they were seen enjoying the rainy moments.
