Cuttack 18.06.2016 (By Tapas Mahapatra) Today i.e. on 18.06.2016 Sri Prasanna Kumar Tareni, A.S.I of Police, Jiranga Beat House, P.S-Rayagada, Dist.Gajapati has been caught by Vigilance Officers of Berhampur Division for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs.30,000/- from the complainant Sri Mitu Nayak, Vill-Abhasingh, P.S-Rayagada, Dist- Gajapati. In this connection Berhampur Vigilance P.S case No. 32 dt.17.06.2016 u/s 7 P.C.Act has been registered. The complainant Sri Mitu Nayak alleged that he uses to purchase Cashew Nut from the local market and sell the same at different places. He was financed by one Tejeswar Rao, Vill-Padampur, P.S-Garabandha, Dist.Gajapati with condition that the complainant Sri Nayak would pay the amount to Sri Rao along with some money from his profit. There was some dispute between them relating to the financial transaction. Sri Rao reported the matter to Sri Prasanna Kumar Tareni, A.S.I of Police, Jiranga Beat House, who called the complainant Sri Nayak and settled their dispute. But thereafter the A.S.I called and demanded Rs.30,000/- from him for not to take any action against him and warned that if the amount would not be paid he will be forward to court. Thereafter Sri Nayak reported to Vigilance. As per direction of S.P, Vigilance, Berhampur, a trap was laid on 18.06.2016. Accused Sri Prasanna Kumar Tareni, A.S.I of Police was caught red handed inside Jirang Beat House under P.S-Rayagada, Dist.Gajapati by Vigilance Officers of Berhampur Division while demanding and accepting bribe Rs.30,000/- from the complt. Sri Nayak. The bribe money of Rs.30,000/- have been recovered from the possession of Sri Tareni, A.S.I of Police and has been seized in presence of witnesses. His hand wash gave positive chemical reaction confirming acceptance of bribe.
