Odisha to churn out 8 lakh skilled professionals in the next 3 years

Bhubaneswar, 17/06/2016:(By Mano Mani Singh)-The capital city saw a congregation of more than 500 skilled professionals from the entire state for the official launch of Odisha Skill Development Authority. A Technical Exhibition was inaugurated by Skill Development and Technical Education, Food Supply & Consumer Welfare Minister Sanjay Kumar Das Burma. Different technical skill based stalls were set up by various Govt. ITI institutions from Rourkela, Talcher, Berhampur, Umerkote & Balasore and other institutions like IL&FS, L&T, Gram Tarang, CIPET, GNOSIS, Sahi Export and Central Tools & Training Centre displayed their technical prowess in various skill based fields.

The program was followed by an interactive session by Subroto Bagchi, Chairman of OSDA and the principal driver of the Skilled in Odisha movement that aims at bringing out 8 lakh skilled professionals from Odisha in the next 3 years. Bagchi spoke on the professionalism that a technical worker should possess to be become a skilled professional.

The session was taken forward by Padmashree Sudarsan Pattnaik where he spoke about his humble beginning and his foray in sand art. Similarly, role models from various fields like Munni Tigga, a loco-pilot and skilled ITI technician like Nunnaram Hansda spoke on their journey and how to become a skilled professional. Entrepreneurs Surendra Sahu, Anil Kumar Nayak and Bangalore based sewing operator Jayanti Patra interacted with the students and urged them to move forward in the career paths. Principal Secretary L. N. Gupta and Director Balwant Singh were present in the occasion.
