BJP National President Shri Amit Shah asks Bihar’s opposition alliance to clarify stand on reservation

NEW DELHI, October 27 – Bharatiya Janata Party National President Shri Amit Shah has asked Bihar’s ‘Mahagathbandhan’ alliance to clarify its stand on the critical issue of reservation. In a series of tweets, Shri Shah has asked that if voted to power, will Nitish Kumar and Lalu Prasad bring down the reservation quota for Backward Castes and Dalits to accommodate minorities. Lalu Prasad and Nitish Kumar are fighting Bihar elections in alliance with the Congress party.

In his tweets, Shri Shah said, “In 2012 Uttar Pradesh assembly polls, Congress had promised 9% reservation for minorities. Since the Supreme Court has capped reservation quota at 50%, I want to ask Nitishji and Laluji if they will give this 9% reservation in Bihar by bringing down the share of Dalits or by reducing the quota of Backward and Extremely Backward Castes.”BJP has steadfastly maintained that the party fully endorses the current reservation policy and it does not favour any change in the existing criteria.
