Colourful tableaux presenting Odisha’s cultural heritage mark World Tourism Day

Bhubaneswar ,28th September 2015 (Biswaranjan Mishra)For the first time, a unique tourism carnival was organised jointly by Department of Tourism & FHRAI in Bhubaneswar on the occasion of World Tourism Day 2015 which ran from Master Canteen Square to Rupali Square in the morning. The carnival showcased the rich cultural diversity and tourist potential of Odisha and it was flagged off by Dr. S. C. Jamir, His Excellency the Governor of Odisha in presence of Shri Debiprasad Mishra, Hon’ble Minister, Industries and School & Mass Education; Shri Ashok Chandra Panda, Hon’ble Minister, Tourism & Culture; Dr. Prasanna Kumar Patsani, Hon’ble MP; Shri B. K. Mohanty, Hon’ble MLA, Shri Priyadarshi Mishra, Hon’ble MLA; Shri Ananta Naryan Jena, Hon’ble Mayer, Shri G. C. Pati, Chief Secretary; Shri L. N. Gupta, Principal Secretary; Tourism; Shri Anil Kumar Samal, Director, Tourism; Shri Dillip Ray, Hon’ble MLA, Shri T. S. Walia, President, FHRAI; Consulate Generals of France and USA, representatives from Italy and many other dignitaries.The carnival was a spectacular show of variety of tourism products with a dozen tableaux depicting Buddhist heritage of Odisha, Wildlife, Tribal Art & ancient Buddhist treasures of Dhauli, Dancing troupes of Odisha, West Bengal, Jammu Kashmir, Punjab, Assam, etc and vintage cars, motor cycles, College & School children carrying placards of the World Tourism Day theme “1 Billion Tourists – 1 Million Opportunities.The carnival was a unique effort made for the first time in the history of Odisha Tourism. The local people as well as delegates of FHRAI enjoyed the carnival. The city witnessed a festive look on the occasion. Odisha is emerging as friendly to tourists and facilitator to investors as observed from successful show-casing of its tourism potentials today.Odisha Tourism officials led by Principal Secretary Tourism Shri L. N. Gupta and Director Tourism Shri Anil Kumar Samal and India Tourism officials welcomed the passengers at Bhubaneswar airport with flowers and souvenirs.
