All India Seminar of Confederation of Indian Bar in KIIT Inauguration by H.E. President of India on August 8

Bhubanewar 1Bhubaneswar ,06.08.2015: A two-day All India Seminar on ‘Global Legal Education’, being organized by Confederation of Indian Bar in association with KIIT University, will be held in KIIT University from August 8 – 9, 2015. Shri Pranab Mukherjee, His Excellency the President of India will inaugurate the Seminar in the presence of Dr. S. C. Jamir, His Excellency the Governor of Odisha, Hon’ble Shri Justice H. L. Dattu, Chief Justice of India, Shri Naveen Patnaik, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Odisha, Hon’ble Shri Justice Dipak Misra, Judge, Supreme Court of India and a host of legal luminaries at KIIT University, Bhubaneswar on August 8, 2015 afternoon, Mr. Pravin H. Parekh, President, Confederation of Indian Bar and Dr. Achyuta Samanta, Founder, KIIT & KISS informed in a press meet here on Thursday.

The growth of international trade and commerce and the movement of citizens globally along with the growth of economic, political, social and international interdependence of the citizens of different countries have necessitated the requirement of deliberation on the generally accepted principles and rules of international law. Legal luminaries, academicians and practitioners from all over the country will deliberate on different aspects of the topic in 12 working sessions and a plenary session, besides inaugural and valedictory sessions. More than 450 legal experts will be joining the discussion at KIIT. An important objective of this meet is to provide a unique opportunity to the students of law as well as new entrants to the profession of direct interaction with national and international level legal luminaries, including judges of the Supreme Court of India and High Courts.

Hon’ble Shri Justice T.S. Thakur, the seniormost judge of the Supreme Court of India will preside over the valedictory session on August 9 in the presence of Hon’ble Shri Justice D. H. Waghela, Chief Justice, High Court of Orissa and Mr. D. V. Sadananda Gowda, Hon’ble Union Minister of Law & Justice, who will deliver the valedictory address. Hon’ble Mr. Justice A. R. Dave, Judge, Supreme Court of India will chair the plenary session on August 8.

Each working session will be chaired by a judge of Supreme Court of India and co-chaired by Chief Justice or a senior judge of a High Court. Judges of the Supreme Court of India, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Madan B. Lokur, Hon’ble  Mr. Justice M.Y. Eqbal, Hon’ble  Mr. Justice V. Gopalagowda, Hon’ble  Mr. Justice Pinaki Chandra Ghose, Hon’ble  Mr. Justice Arjan Kumar Sikri, Hon’ble  Mr. Justice Shiva Kirti Singh, Hon’ble  Mr. Justice N.V. Ramana and Hon’ble  Mr. Justice Arun Mishra will chair 12 working sessions. Similarly, Hon’ble Chief Justices of High Courts of Chhattisgarh, Manipur, Sikkim, Madras, Jharkhand, Meghalaya, Punjab & Haryana, Telangana & Andhra Pradesh and Gauhati will co-chair these sessions.

Senior advocates of Bars, Vice Chancellors of Law Universities, legal experts, representatives of Bar Councils and Bar Associations of India, academicians and representatives from over 70 law firms of India and abroad will participate in the seminar, which provides a unique interface between the beginners and most experienced of the legal profession. Mr. Pravin H. Parekh, President, Confederation of Indian Bar and Professor N. L. Mitra, Chancellor, KIIT University will address the inaugural session.

Confederation of Indian Bar is a forum for integration and coordination of all the organizations of Bar as well as members of the legal profession in India to represent the National voice of the legal profession and all other related issues. KIIT has successfully organized many prestigious national and international meets like the 99th Indian Science Congress and National Children’s Science Congress, Dr. Achyuta Samanta, Founder, KIIT & KISS said, and added that it is a matter of great pride for KIIT University to be associated with Confederation of Indian Bar to host this mega national-level meet of law professionals.
